Toronto Designer Meaghan Way Customizes Launchpad Member Portal
Artscape Daniels Launchpad officially opens its doors on November 1st to its members – and with this comes the launch of their member portal. The platform will allow members to sign up for training, book spaces, and get creative in the space.
When logging into the member portal, users will be greeted with artwork by our very own Launchpad community. Each month, a select artist or designer will be featured – and what better way to kick-off the portal’s launch than with a custom illustration!
Toronto designer Meaghan Way, plays with an abstract “launchpad” letting a figure bounce and twirl off from it.
“I wanted to make something fun, bold, and minimal for Launchpad’s membership portal, so I decided to play with an abstracted “launchpad” that a figure bounces and twirls off of. I initially planned for a a static illustration, but I thought it fit best as a looping gif in the end.
“All of my illustrations begin with tiny (ridiculous) sketches like this one. I wanted to illustrate a figure being “launched” off of a slingshot, until I whittled the concept down to a simple rectangle rotating around a circle to represent an abstract launchpad. A couple of linears layered overtop of each to indicate where it’s all (eventually) heading.”
