Creative Studio Workshops

Whether you’re an established artist or just creatively curious, our new Creative Studio Workshops offer a variety of technical skills and creative project instruction for all artistic interests!

Whether you’re an absolute beginner in fabric dyeing or a black belt in 3D fabrication, there are classes to fit your skill level and creative passion, from two-hour beginner sessions to multi-day master classes in one of the following disciplines:

Soft circuits, basic sewing techniques using industrial sewing machines, garment sewing techniques, domestic knitting, TC2 Jacquard Loom, designing for the TC2 using Photoshop, indigo vat dying, polychromatic silk screen printing, coating, exposing, washing and stripping screens. Torch basics, hydraulic press, gem setting, laser welding basics, metal lathe basics, lost wax casting, vacuum casting machine, metal weaving, chain making and making a band ring. Woodworking, essential router skills, woodworking techniques for scale modeling, glue-ups, jigs and fixtures, making picture frames, CNC router operation and preparing toolpaths in Fusion 360.
Fashion | There’s sew much to learn! We’ll be covering everything from basic sewing techniques using industrial sewing machines to polychromatic silk screen printing, coating, exposing, washing and stripping screens. Jewellery | Get some experience with torch basics, operating a hydraulic press, gem setting, laser welding, metal lathes, lost wax casting, vacuum casting, metal weaving, chain making and making a band ring. Woodworking | Work with the grain and bring your ideas to life. We’ll be covering woodworking, essential router skills, woodworking techniques for scale modeling, glue-ups, jigs and fixtures, making picture frames, CNC router operation and preparing toolpaths in Fusion 360.
Electronics using Arduino, building and using contact microphones, circuit bending electronic toys to make noise, pulse sensor and LED pulsing at heartbeat using Arduino or Trinket from Adafruit, creating and printing PCB boards (fritzing & voltera), working with motors and using sensors with Arduino and RF control devices. Vector cutting for garment patterns and textiles, laser cut lace, laser cutting, digital fabrication, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Processing, Adobe Illustrator for laser and vinyl cutting and 3D printing.
