Purpose: Organizing, Activism and the Creative Business

Are you balancing social, cultural and economic objectives in your business? Interested in approaches to make for-purpose creative businesses more sustainable?

January 20, 2019 10:00am-4:00pm

This 1-day workshop is a fast-paced and hands-on opportunity to explore different pathways to success for organizations that balance economic, non-economic, and personal objectives. You’ll be exposed to cases, concepts and a community of other passionate individuals committed to advancing various objectives through their creative practice.

Engagement across social, environmental, and cultural communities is too often limited. Innovations, best practices and opportunities are too rarely shared. Approaches can be assembled from different places in order to organize your enterprise in a way that maximizes impact and resilience.

You will be exposed to recent innovations in how for-purpose work happens and have opportunities to apply the ideas to your own specific challenges as part of a community of learners. You will practice creating conditions for new approaches to succeed and reflecting on current routines and approaches to see if they are still a good fit.

Topics will include funding, partnerships, communication strategies, positioning, and emerging models of revenue generation.

• More options to organize and fund your work

• Exposure to approaches that work from across sectors

• Connections to innovators across the creative sector looking to adapt to related challenges

• Strategy to approach different stakeholders and communicate the impact of your work
